A large Finnish long-term study from 2015 provides exciting results on the topic of sauna and heart health. In the study, over 2,300 middle-aged men were followed over a longer period. The result: Those who regularly use the sauna have a significantly lower risk of heart attack and other serious cardiovascular diseases.
Men who used the sauna two to three times a week had an approximately 22 percent lower risk of dying from a cardiovascular event. With four to seven sauna sessions per week, this risk even decreased by around 63 percent. In addition, overall mortality was lower in the groups with frequent sauna visits.
The study results suggest that regular sauna use – provided there are no health concerns – can be a simple, well-tolerated, and practical way to support cardiovascular health.
