Study results show that the iodine supply of the population in Germany is insufficient. The reason for this is iodine-poor soils, which in turn lead to low iodine levels in the grain, vegetables, and fruit grown on them. To improve the iodine supply, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture is providing information and raising awareness as part of the “If salt, then iodized salt” information campaign.
